Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford is an American actor, singer, and dancer. Her early Broadway roles included Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. Her role on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her an award for the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Annaleigh has worked in projects with award-winning directors as well as actors and producers for most of her professional career. Ashford can be seen next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani, in Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It will premiere on 22nd November. Ashford has been engaged in the production of Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. It's also available on Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford returns to Broadway in March 2023, with the role of Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production takes place located at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will form the team of creators for the musical. Ashford portrayed Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the scandal that brought Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp along with other key actors into the very first impeachment proceeding in America in over a century. In two seasons, Ashford was the main character of CBS's hit series B Positive. It was developed by Marco Pennette and Chuck Lorre the show also starred famous actor Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo and Ben Vereen.No no stranger to Broadway Ashford won the Tony Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards for her portrayal of Essie as Essie in You Can't Take It with You. She has also been on Broadway in Sunday in the Park With George Wicked, Legally Blonde and the first character in the role of Lauren in Kinky Boots for which she was nominated for a Tony Award. Ashford is a Denver resident who splits his time in Los Angeles.
